Saturn return calculator: find your exact dates

Last updated: July 2026

A Saturn return happens when transiting Saturn arrives back at the exact zodiacal degree it occupied at your birth — once every 29.4 years, so near ages 29, 58, and 87. Age estimates can miss by more than a year, because the real timing depends on where in its sign your natal Saturn sits and on Saturn's retrograde loops in the return window. The reliable method is degree-based: look up your natal Saturn's sign from your birth date in the table below to find your return window, then calculate the exact contact dates from your full birth data. Saturn is in Aries from February 2026 to April 2028, which makes this the active first-return window for April 1996 – June 1998 births and the second return for March 1967 – April 1969 births.

The table gives your window. Your chart gives the exact dates — including how many times Saturn crosses your degree. Zoracle calculates it to the day.

Saturn return windows by birth date

Find the span containing your birth date. Your first return runs while Saturn transits your natal Saturn's sign. Births within a few weeks of a span boundary can fall either side — Saturn briefly dips back across sign lines during its retrogrades — which is exactly why the exact-degree calculation matters at the edges.

How the calculation works

Step one: compute Saturn's geocentric ecliptic longitude at your exact birth moment — say, 22°41′ Aries. That degree is fixed for life.

Step two: scan Saturn's ephemeris forward to find every date transiting Saturn crosses that longitude. Because Saturn retrogrades once a year, it can cross your degree once (clean pass) or three times (direct, retrograde, direct again) — a three-contact return spread across roughly a year.

Step three: read the window. The exact contacts are the peaks; the wider two-and-a-half-year sign transit is the season. This is the same calculation Zoracle runs — and shows — when you ask for your dates.

Show the maths

Worked example — a birth on 15 May 1997 (natal Saturn 15°41′ Aries, engine-computed):

Natal Saturn: 15°41' Aries (born 15 May 1997)

Saturn in Aries: 26 May 2025 - 2 Sep 2025 (first pass)
                      15 Feb 2026 - 14 Apr 2028 (main pass)
2026 retrograde:      27 Jul 2026 (14°45') -> 11 Dec 2026 (7°56')

Return contact: 23 March 2027 — a SINGLE clean pass.
The 2026 retrograde stations at 14°45',
stopping 0°56' short of this natal degree —
so no triple contact for this chart.
A birth weeks earlier gets three contacts.

Sign spans and station figures above are computed from astronomical position data using the open-source astronomy-engine library. The per-person contact dates need your full birth data — that part runs when you ask.

Frequently asked questions

How do I calculate my Saturn return?

Find the zodiac position Saturn occupied at your birth, then find when transiting Saturn next returns to that exact degree — roughly 29.4 years later. The birth-year table on this page gives your return window; the exact dates need your specific birth data, because Saturn's degree moves through a sign over about two and a half years and the return can hit one or three times depending on the retrograde pattern.

At what age is your Saturn return?

The first Saturn return lands between ages 27 and 30 for everyone — most exact contacts happen at age 29. The second return arrives between about 57 and 60, and the third between 86 and 89. The precise age depends on where in its sign your natal Saturn sits and on Saturn's retrograde loops in the return years.

Whose Saturn return is happening right now?

Saturn is in Aries from February 2026 to April 2028 (with a first pass May-September 2025). That is the first Saturn return for people born with Saturn in Aries — April 1996 to June 1998 births — and the second return for those born March 1967 to April 1969. People born with Saturn in early Taurus (1998-2000) are next, from April 2028.

Why do calculators give different Saturn return dates?

Age-based estimates just add 29 or 30 to your birth year, which can miss by more than a year. Degree-based calculation finds the actual ephemeris moment transiting Saturn hits your natal Saturn's exact degree — including the retrograde passes, which can make the return a three-contact event spread over a year. Zoracle uses the degree-based method.

How long does a Saturn return last?

The exact-contact phase typically spans a few months to a year, depending on whether Saturn crosses your natal degree once or three times. The wider felt window — Saturn moving through your natal Saturn's sign — lasts about two and a half years. Most people describe the intensity peaking around the exact contacts.

Can the Saturn return dates be calculated exactly?

Yes. Saturn's position is astronomical data, so the return — Saturn arriving back at its natal longitude — is exactly calculable from your birth date, time, and place. Zoracle computes it with the open-source astronomy-engine ephemeris library and shows the calculation with the answer.
