When does my Saturn return end? the end date is calculable
Last updated: July 2026
A Saturn return ends at the final exact contact — the last time transiting Saturn crosses your natal Saturn's degree. That can be a single clean pass lasting a few weeks, or a three-contact event spread over roughly a year when Saturn's annual retrograde loops back across your degree. The wider season ends when Saturn leaves your natal Saturn's sign, about two and a half years after it entered. Both dates are astronomical facts, calculable in advance from your birth data. For the cohort in return now — natal Saturn in Aries, born April 1996 to June 1998 or March 1967 to April 1969 — the season closes when Saturn exits Aries on 14 April 2028, with individual final contacts landing anywhere from 2026 to early 2028 depending on natal degree.
“It ends when it ends” is a horoscope answer. Your end date is an ephemeris date. Zoracle calculates your final contact to the day.

The three endings of a Saturn return
The exact-phase ending. The last crossing of your natal degree. If Saturn passes once without retrograding back, the exact phase is short. If the retrograde loops over your degree, the third contact — Saturn direct, moving away for good — is the true end, up to a year after the first.
The season ending. Saturn leaves your natal Saturn's sign and does not re-enter. For the current Aries cohort that is 14 April 2028. After this, the return is over in every sense until the next one 29 years later.
The felt ending. Traditionally reported a few months after the final contact, when decisions made under pressure start functioning as normal life. Astrologers read the year after the last contact as consolidation, not aftermath.

Why some returns run long
Saturn retrogrades for about four and a half months every year — in 2026, from 27 July at 14°45′ Aries back to 7°56′ Aries on 11 December. Natal Saturns inside that band get the three-pass treatment: a first contact before the station, a second during the retrograde, a third after Saturn turns direct. Natal degrees outside the loop get one pass and a much shorter return.
This is why two people born months apart can have completely different return lengths — and why an age-based answer (“it ends when you turn 30”) misleads. The degree, not the birthday, sets the clock.

Show the maths
The end date is found by scanning Saturn's ephemeris for every crossing of the natal degree, then taking the last one:
Method:
1. Natal Saturn longitude from birth data (e.g. 9°30' Aries)
2. Scan transiting Saturn's daily longitude
3. Record every crossing of 9°30' Aries:
contact 1 (direct)
contact 2 (retrograde) <- only if the loop covers it
contact 3 (direct) <- the END of the exact phase
4. Season end = Saturn's ingress out of Aries
(14 April 2028, engine-computed)Saturn's station and ingress dates on this page are computed from astronomical position data using the open-source astronomy-engine library. Your personal contact dates need your full birth data.

Frequently asked questions
How long does a Saturn return last?
The exact-contact phase lasts from a few weeks to about a year, depending on whether Saturn crosses your natal degree once or three times. The wider season — Saturn moving through your natal Saturn's sign — lasts about two and a half years. Most of the felt intensity clusters around the exact contacts, not the whole season.
When does the current Saturn return end?
For the cohort in it now — natal Saturn in Aries — the season ends when Saturn leaves Aries on 14 April 2028. Individual end dates come earlier: your return's last exact contact depends on your natal degree. Early-Aries Saturns (born spring 1996) finish their contacts by 2027; late-Aries Saturns (born 1998) run to early 2028.
Why did my Saturn return come back after I thought it was over?
The retrograde. Saturn reverses for about four and a half months every year, and if the loop re-crosses your natal degree the return becomes a three-contact event: first hit, retrograde hit, final direct hit — spread over roughly a year. What feels like the return 'coming back' is usually contact two or three, and the dates of each are calculable in advance.
Does life immediately improve when the Saturn return ends?
The classical reading is not a switch but a settling: after the final contact, the structures that survived the audit stabilise, and decisions made during the return start paying out. Astrologers traditionally read the year after the last contact as the consolidation year — the reward phase arrives as the new structures prove themselves.
Can I know my exact Saturn return end date in advance?
Yes. Saturn's future positions are astronomical data, so the final crossing of your natal degree is exactly calculable from your birth date, time, and place — including whether your return is a one-contact or three-contact event. Zoracle calculates all contacts and shows the working.
